Luhd PM-01AB are a handmade electret microphones designed especially for portable recording where low noise and high sensitivity is important, like field recording, bioacoustics, sound effects and research.
The PM-01AB gives you clear, transparent and well rounded recordings, with lots of detail.
It can be used in anything from traditional AB recording, to Quasi-Binaural and "Baffled Omnis"- setups.
Very little self-noise and exceptionally high sensitivity for its size and price makes it an excellent addition to any field-recorders toolkit. It handles surprisingly loud sounds for a microphone its size and sensitivity.
PM-01AB has 2x 170cm of quality Mogami cable, giving you a good 3 meters+ reach and is terminated in a single TRS 3.5mm jack connector, offering "plug and play" connectivity to most consumer recorders. It needs "plug in power" to operate, either from your recorder, or an external battery box.
The capsules are encased in rugged industrial grade rubber sleeving, and is built to last outdoors.
Two basic foam windscreens included.
The two microphones are matched within 0.5dB at 1khz/94dB.
Sensitivity: -28dB ± 3dB at 1kHz (38mV/Pa) at 5V
Max Input Level: 122dB S.P.L. Typ
Signal to Noise Ratio: >78dB
Self Noise: <15dB
Operating Voltage 2-10V (5V ideal)
Below are some recordings made with Luhd-equipment. To give you a clear idéa of how the microphones sound, none of the recordings are post-processed in any way, other than the necessary bitrate conversion. That means the samples are not (dynamic range) compressed, EQ´ed or normalized, and you may have to turn your volume up or down as you listen. Note that there might be great differences in different recorders, both in the quality of microphone- preamplification and analog-to-digitial conversion, so there is no guarantee your individual setup will sound exactly the same.
